How Do You Know if You're a Crafting Nerd?

1. When you email different crochet designers (both professional and amateur) to say how much you like certain designs...and you get excited when they email you back! (SLK Designs, Soulmom, The Nerdy Hooker, to name a recent few).

2. You post pictures of friends and family members wearing or playing with the stuff you made them.

Crocheting Baby Hats

I just got done making some baby hats for various people. Once I find out what they are having, that will determine how I really finish them off. I found out that by using the pattern I linked to, with an H sized hook and a brand new skein of yarn, you can get three complete hats. I'm not posting them here yet, but I used one skein of Premier Yarns Mega Brushed (super soft and mohair-like) in Lavender Ice (color 51-212). Those little hats turned out nice!

A Sore Wrist and Caluses

I was hoping to make it over to a friend's house last night for Wrestlemania. I'm not so much a wrestling fan as I am of these get-togethers, but something came up and I had to miss it. In order to get ready for it, I was spending a lot of time this last weekend speed-crocheting. My right wrist is sore and I think I have a couple caluses.

I finished off a tiny "Despicable Me" minion for Cat. She saw Nicole's birthday minions and really wanted one of her own. Her little minion is wearing coveralls made out of some unlabeled variegated yarn in jewel tones. He's more of a hippy minion.

Nicole saw this image over at Stuff at HasCheezburger and wanted one. Until now, I thought the damn thing was  ZOMBIE BUNNY, not a ZOMBIE HUNTING BUNNY. So guess what I actually made her. A zombie bunny.

Guts and intestines spilling out. Doncha just hate when that happens?

He's still somewhat healthy. That yellow skin is infected and filled with puss. The darker brown skin is dead zombie skin. That's why his left leg is shorter than his right. He's rotting already. Of course with all those bloody wounds, he is a mess!

Missing the tip of one ear and half of an arm. This guy is in rough shape!
He wasn't too dangerous while I was working on him. There was a lot of zombie-like thrashing about and fighting, but he didn't have a mouth at that point. Once I got around to giving him his lopsided face, this zombie bun went NUTS. I had to make a carrot for him to gnaw on so he'd leave me along. And in the last picture, you can see where the zombie bun started gnawing on the carrot. I didn't tell him that Nicole wanted him to be a zombie hunter. I didn't want to upset him.

This is actually the Bella the Bunny Pattern from Lion Brand yarn. I mixed in a variety of yarn types to get a different kind of look.

If you're easily offended, then you might want to stop reading now. I was feeling funny and decided I needed to make something for Michelle. I had this pattern bookmarked because I thought it was significantly odd and needed an excuse to make it: a lip balm cozy shaped like a penis.

My God, this thing is pale! I wonder if it came from an albino!

I am under no illusion that Michelle will actually store a lip balm in here. It was just a little bit of weirdness to finish off my weekend crafting. :)
