The Travel Card Holder Wins Round 2

Okay, so I took another crack at the travel card holder today. I actually had some more of the acetate film in my stash, so version 2 didn't cost me anything. However, it wasn't much better. I trashed this second one and will try again in a few days. I think I need to sit down with a pen and paper and really plot out my measurements. However, I'll have to track down more acetate for the little windows.

The Newest Bane of My Existence

So issue #23 of Mollie Makes magazine came with some of the materials needed, and the directions for, a travel card holder. Much like the telephone hoop project, I'm going to have to try this one again.

For some damn reason now, I want that travel card holder!

Version #1, as seen above, turned out pretty dismally. However, I know I can do this. All I need to do is make the fabric pieces a little bigger than noted in the pattern, and then sew the ribbon to the acetate and the fabric at the same time, instead of separately like Mollie Makes suggests.

Doing Some More Tailoring

I think it was sometime last year that Nicole the Knitter started asking me to hem her new pants, or turn older ones into capris. Since then, thanks to her, I've been getting lots of practice on her pants, as well as my own. But now, the request for tailoring has been taken up a notch.

This is one of Nicole's skirts. I love it, with the corset lacing in the front like that. It's from Torrid (they don't show this one online anymore) and it's a size 24. She's been losing weight and figures she's down to a size 18. She came over yesterday with the skirt because she wants to keep it but it's literally falling off her ass. She needed about five inches taken off the width.

I just finished it and am so proud of how it turned out! I was even able to keep the pleated ruffle at the bottom looking just as nice as it was before. Nicole didn't care about where the zipper was in the back, so instead of trying to split the difference (2.5" removed from each side), she said she was fine with me taking out an entire panel of the plaid, since one of those panels was the right width to remove anyway. :)

Unicorn Amigurumi: It's just Despicable

I just finished the unicorn pattern from the movie, Despicable Me, for Nicole the Knitter. This little girl is basically Nicole.

Anyway, I used the pattern from Red Linc Crafts, that was posted in August 2011, and an H sized hook. I didn't buy any yarn for this and just used what was in my stash, so that's why the pinks on my unicorn aren't as bright as Red Linc's.

I also had the chance to hang the telephone hoop, rehung a small battery powered light bar in my closet, and I stuffed the other pillow (the second ST:TNG uniform pillow from my last swap on Craftster).
