Just Entered the Virginia Screenwriting Competition!

My efforts to get my newly completed horror movie script, "Sharkosaurus Rex," into the hands of any producer or director, have been ignored. Emails and Tweets to various production companies, producers and directors of similar movies haven't gone anywhere. I have been planning one more try, until...

I read about the Virginia Screenwriting Competition for 2015! "The Virginia Screenwriting Competition was established in 1988 as a means of showcasing the work of Virginia writers and encouraging the development of scripts that could be shot in Virginia. Since that time, the competition has received more than 1,000 entries from all parts of the state. The first round of judging is by judges from within the state who each select one or two scripts to be finalists in the competition. These scripts are then sent to working professionals in the industry who read all of the final screenplays and select the three winners. An award of $1,000 is given to each of the winners without rank as part of the Virginia Film Festival, held in Charlottesville in November."

Well, lookee who happened to have a completed script right there up her sleeve!

With a slight change to the cover page, I filled out the application not more than five minutes ago and got my baby emailed off to them.

Wouldn't it be wild if I were chosen as a winner, or at least a finalist? "The Virginia Screenwriting Competition is unique in that all entries receive a written evaluation from the first round judges, often giving writers valuable insight into ways to improve their work." This, in itself, could prove to be wildly valuable to me, since I do plan one more try of getting it into the hands of The Asylum anyway.

Today's To Do List For Work

My to do list for today at work, is to find these cars to have on display for Homearama for later this year. I've already tracked down  a General Lee in Williamsburg, and we need to talk money. I'm also going to hit up the people taking care of the Batmobile for Tidewater Comic Con and Richmond Wizard Con later this summer.

I love this job!
